Welcome Ashley Grow!

This post is long overdue. In fact, I have neglected my blog for quite some time.

Ashley Grow was born into our family at the end of May 2011 weighing 7lbs 12oz and 19.25 inches long. She decided she wanted to come into this world on her own terms. For a month before she was born she had been head down and ready to go. As my doctor put it, I had a lot of fluid for her to swim around in.  :) We were past due 3 days and I just wanted to get her out so we had planned an induction. The antsy nature that I felt with this pregnancy was crazy. I just wanted it to be done. I bet no mother ever feels that way, right?!

Jason and I arrived at the hospital and were getting situated in our room. The doctor on call came in to check the baby with an ultrasound to see how she was. They could not find her heart beat. I was starting to freak out. I told them I knew her head was down because I'd just been to the doctor 3 days before and she was just fine. After much searching the doctor realized the baby was sideways. This little stinker had decided to turn on us. I was so frustrated. I did not want to have a c-section in any way. But I would do anything in order to get the baby out safely. We decided to try and turn her because she was sideways. I was given an epidural and then they can in to try and turn her. What an experience that was. I couldn't feel anything but the pressure. That doctor was practically sitting on top of me. They did get her to move some but then she got caught on a rib and wouldn't budge. I was going to surgery. They didn't feel they could keep trying. They didn't want to rupture the placenta or tear it away.

We had to wait for a few more hours before my doctor could come. The nice thing was that I was not in labor so I could just sleep. Finally we went into the surgical room. I must say I was very very nervous but Jason gave me a blessing before we went in. They also said I could listen to my iPod to calm my nerves. The anesthesiologist was really cool. He was like the father on my shoulders giving me encouragement. Jason was holding my hands and my doctor was so nice and walking me through the procedure. After what seemed like an eternity Ashley was taken out, cleaned up somewhat and placed on my chest.

She was so beautiful and she didn't really cry very much either. They took her away from me so they could sew me up and reunite us in my room. Jason went with her. It still amazes how much love we can have for someone and to top that with the love you feel for your children.

I was so excited for Jaymee to meet her sister. Jason's parents and his sister Laura brought Jaymee to see us at the hospital when we got into the room. Here are some of the first pictures of their meeting.

Precious! And how do you look so good in these hospital pictures? Not fair.
